The First Annual Wiscasset Schoonerfest is presented by Friends of Wiscasset Village and the Town of Wiscasset to commemorate the berth of the last of the four-masted schooners—Hesper and Luther Little—and to celebrate the return of the When and If to her home harbor where she was built. It is our mission and our passion to remember our “Wiscasset Schooners” in song and story by bringing to life Wiscasset’s distinguished shipbuilding heritage and the remarkably preserved history and architecture of our village.

We hope our visitors enjoy the 1800s-costumed street actors and chantey singers, and the harp, fiddle and tin whistle musicians—a four-day festival of local talent and bands on the Pier and Town Common stages and in the historic Sunken Garden. We hope visitors catch the excitement of our harbor heritage with the cannon salutes for When and If, the typhoon regatta and rowing races, lighted boat parade, and the inauguration of a Schoonerfest Triathlon that will complete the festival.

Wiscasset’s rich maritime history and preservation of our Village—and our uncommon sense of community—are our greatest assets. In this year following the long siege of a pandemic which has swept through our coastal community and our nation, it is our hope that the beauty of our present—and legacy of our past—will touch all who come here.

Celebrate with us as we look forward to another 500 years on the coast of Maine!

Friends of Wiscasset Village is a member of the Wiscasset Creative Alliance—a visionary nonprofit umbrella of community organizations made up entirely of volunteers.
